Dear all,

I'll be away from this pooter for all August, going to my parents' hometown. So please don't send me unnecessary email, as I cannot read it until September, and it would only clog up my already hideous inbox.

For any emergencies that may occur while I'm away, flats under flood, mint pizzas indigestion, broken nails etcetera, you have my mobile's number, if you don't, that's either because I haven't given the number to you cos I don't like you, or, most probably, cos I forgot. If you think you've been unfairly left out of the lucky bunch who do have my mobile's number, you've got all tomorrow to ask for it via email, as I'm leaving on Saturday.

Anyway, keep in mind that if you happen to contact me on the mobile via another mobile, therefore disclosing aforementioned mobile's number to me, I tend to annoy you with meaningless text messages, it's a serious disease, much like internet addiction, for which they haven't found a cure yet, so think twice, or even a thousand times, before doing that, and then, if you do, don't say I didn't warn you.

See you all soon!! :-)

My friend Catia (not same Catia as in Catia&Massimo, another Catia) is getting married - btw, on 7th September, which happens to be the day after her own birthday *and* the very day of my sister's birthday...

All these people getting married left right and centre...must be an epidemic thing.

Also, Johan (Swede chap who wants to get a Primo Levi's poem tattoed on his arm, I mean Johan off the MSP list I unsubbed from ages ago, for those who happen to read this and know both him and the list...) told me that Sean Moore off the Manic Street Preachers became a dad... When?? And above all, why on earth?? Wasn't he the one who went round telling for no reason at all he would've given life to another sad human being, or something similar? Huh, I'm getting old, only a couple of years ago I would've been one of the first people to know the news...know what? I don't give a damn about the Manics anymore, actually. You'll probably find me listening to Puccini more often than not these days...
No sign of a Zaha Hadid fambly here, nor here, nor here, nor here...(If anybody happens to know she's got a family, as in she's a mom/wife, please do tell me!)

Regarding my babbling about my friends splitting, there are quite a few more things the whole event made me think of. Above all, anyway, it reminded me how scared I am of relationships, caused by the times I got hurt by them. Badly, if I may add. In some way or other one always ends up getting hurt, although I still *hope* I am completely wrong here. A popular saying over here goes "Meglio soli che male accompagnati", which translates into "Better alone than badly matched". Too true. Then again, if it has to be so, then I wonder what's the whole point of living a several-decades-long life? Not everybody has a Rita Levi Montalcini vocation, live for the love of science, therefore end up at 90-something with a Nobel Prize in their CV, wandering around with hair looking like a big fluffy cloud and starring in Internet providers' commercials on the telly...

My Mum and Dad have been married for 31 years now, and every now and then I find myself wondering how did they do that, I mean, how did they succeeded supporting and bearing each other for so long, and I must say I'm somewhat jealous. I'm so scared of relationship to the extent I keep on thinking I would fail if I tried doing the same thing my parents did. Lately I've been only focused on my architecture degree, only realising that oops! I'm 28! because of a friend of mine's 30th birthday approaching. OK, not my fault if I'm studying at 28 and blah blah blah, still it really scares me. After my graduation I'll be too busy building up a career. It will take a little more than ten minutes, I reckon. So, if I'm lucky, by the time I'm a "respected" architect, I'll be 40 or so. If I'm *very* lucky, that is. Great. Look at Zaha Hadid. From Iraq, a woman becomes a famous architect. I haven't got the guts to do a search and discover if she's got a family or something, but I doubt it.

What's the sodding point of it all?!?
since I'm pretty sure tomorrow I'll be too busy to remember and post this, here we go:

Sie Nur Erklären Mir, Daß Sie Mich Lieben, Wenn Sie Getrunken Werden...apparently somebody tried to run my blog into a German (I think...) translator...
Right (I know it's not nice to begin a paragraph with a "right", but, well...I'm trying to make sense, and "right" just fits in there, although it's just my opinion...). All of this happened about three weeks ago. Not naming names, although people who know, know whom I'm talking about, but it took me this long to come to terms with the fact that two friends of mine are divorcing. I'm not going to go into the who is responsible in the first place argument here, as this isn't the place, nor I'm entitled to make comments on the matter, as only the two of them know *exactly* how things stand, and I could only make assumptions and speculations, which I'm not willing to.

All I need to say, just because I've been thinking about this for three weeks now, is how all that happened has saddened me. Also because when these things happen people tend to take sides, and, as much as I'm trying to understand both their reasons, I know that not just their marriage has fallen apart. A web of friendships also has, what with people thinking he's right or she is instead, and I guess nothing will be the same from now on, and it's sad. I've got my own opinion about it all, and, to cut a long story short, I think that if it all ended so abruptly, it's probably because it wasn't meant to be from the beginning, cos it lasted so little time it's not possible this whole mess was caused by a single thing at the end, so I reckon it wasn't going smoothly from the beginning or so. I only realised this when it eventually ended, as, had I known before the two of them weren't made for each other, I would've not tried to talk them out of it all, but at least let them know what I thought. But when it all started and they got married, all I thought about that was "Oh, that's so cute, they love each other, lucky people!" and was genuinely happy for them...

This makes me think about how well one thinks to know a person, and in the end the whole idea of their friend is, if not completely wrong, at least not *so* close to reality. It's painful when a rather perfect image crashes, proving to be not so perfect as one thought it was. It's true I tend to idealise people, thinking everybody's nice, unless they prove otherwise. Now I just wish they'd not hurt each other and could go through the divorce papers in a civil way, and I really hope they succeed doing that, for their own sake. But, to this day, it seems this isn't going to happen, and that it will be a more hurtful separation than it ought to be. I don't know exactly how to help, or even if I should at all, I know I'm trying my best to be as supportive as I can, and I've realised I'm being partial, as I've been fairly more supportive towards one of the two, and, although it somehow makes me feel guilty, as they're both supposed to be my friends, I reckon I'm doing the right thing.

Well, I don't know if this makes any sense at all, I just wanted to see how it looked written down (or, better, typed down...), since the same argument wobbling in my head doesn't make as much sense as the way it does to me what I've just typed...

PromoGuy's Monday Mission 2.29

1. Do you remember your first encounter with computers? Tell me about that.
ha! hahahahahaha!!! ROTFL!!!!!
Picture this: me, trying to type a long essay for school at dad's computer in his office when I was about 15 or 16, do you think I knew I had to save my work every now and then? Hell I knew. the power goes away, and my 4 hours work goes away with it. I didn't touch a bloody computer for ages afterwards, I thought they were sent directly from hell!! I still do think so, actually...

2. How late can you stay up and still be functional the next day? Do you do that very often?
Midnight. No, seriously, if I stay up later than that, the day after I'm completely out of order.

3. When was the last really good hug you got from another adult? Who was it and what was the situation?
It was last week after my yacht design exam, got home exhausted and both mom and dad hugged me, it was nice...

4. One thing about children is that they all like to draw. We all shared the same ability and skill level at one time. Do you still like to draw? (Not do you think you draw well, or do others, but do you like to?) If not, how come? Did you get discouraged at some point?
Welllllll...I *have* to draw as a job, since I'm studying architecture!!! anyways, apart from tech drawing, I've always had a thing for painting and drawing, and I still do.

5. I way overslept today. I had to head to work with no shower (don't get too close), and I am not in the best of moods. Have you ever overslept on a day you had something
important going on? What's the story there?

Not really, I have a biological morning alarm, so if I "decide" I must get up at, say 5 am, I will.

6. Ever go shopping for something you know you can't afford? You look at it and even think about how it will look when you get it home, somehow you justify the cost and believe it can happen? And just before you get to the counter come to your senses? What was the last thing you almost bought, but thought better of it? And why the heck do we do that to ourselves?
No, I actually never do that, probably because I have so little money to spend that I tend to buy only the stuff I actually need, or the things I know I can afford, even if I don't *really* need them, so little things that make my day, but of little money value.

7. (It begins again...) It's all such a blur now. I'd asked you to help me wake up but the alarm didn't go off. It was 10 till and just I knew I'd be late. Somehow you got me here on time. How did you do that?
Cannot be, I already told you about my natural morning clock, haven't I? :)

BONUS: Can't you see, you belong to me?
" my poor heart aches at every step you take..." etc etc. ok I knew this one!!!

What do you do when things just go horribly wrong, and it's not even your fault, they just go the wrong way?

Did I ever tell you I just hate the Summer? I especially hate the tourists that crawl down from everywhere and thing the town is all theirs - no siree, it's not, and would you please stop blocking the entire pedestrians area with your nonsense grouping and marching in floods? thanks.

My theme for the thesis's [for those who don't know what I'm rambling about, thesis means the project I have to design (in detail as if it were going to be built for real) for my graduation] will be this: Light Opera.
I haven't gone nuts, don't worry, not yet, or, better, not completely.
I'm planning to design a movable (light as in not heavy) theatre where it's possible to produce an opera drama (in particular, I'm thinking of Puccini's Madama Butterfly).
Aforementioned opera production will be sort of futuristic in the use of materials, esp. for the use of a pseudo-fabric called Luminex, which is self-illuminating thanks to hi tech fibres in the fabric (light as in shiny here...).
Does that make sense to you? no? well, nevermind, that's what I'm going to do anyway.
Hurrah for me!!!

Back laters, I've got to make another round of phone calls to Rome hotels for Rich, but I'm not so hopeful. Bloody tourists!!

Take the 'Which Archangel are you?' Quiz!

Which Archangel are
you? by Xera

(oh, it's been ages since I last took one of these silly online I'm an archangel, wonder if I can add that on my cv...)
I don't know why my internet connection is particularly poo these days.

Anyways, I've spent the last 48 hours trying to recover from the past uni term. It's been awfully hard work, and I only about managed to do the things I wanted to do, but I'm really pooped. Also, I spent quite a lot of money to print drawings for my latest exam, (several A2 sized sheets, colour on photographic paper, cost an eye...). It was worth the cause, cos my work looked shiny and lovely printed on that kind of paper, still now I'm practically broke.

To rub it all in, add to this I'm supposed to be on holiday now, but can't go anywhere, and just received an email from my mate Richard asking me if I wanted to go to Amsterdam for a couple of days - AND I CAN'T EVEN AFFORD A COUPLE OF DAYS!!! I think I spent almost all the money I had for my exams in denial for the fact I can't go to UK in August. I'll be trapped in my parents' hometown for a whole month. AGAIN.

how can I get rid of the smell of cat wee?...oh my, isn't this getting too silly?!?

Anyways, since I'm here, I'm proud to announce I PASSED THE BLURRY MOROTYACHT DESIGN EXAM, AND EVEN SCORED 30/30+!!! I ROCK!!!

also, as if out of the blue, but not really, let's post the following words: Google! DayPop! This is my blogchalk: Italian, Italy, Rome, Lazio, Female, 26-30!
Makes no sense? nevermind, you don't have to know... ;-P

An impressive number of people got here searching for on Google, courtesy of that schtoopid email I got earlier this week...the saga continues...

Thursday, July 11, 2002

some Google searching for this page that made my day:
* giorgia great (of course I am!!!)
* Are people jealous when they gossip about someone (ha! hahahahaha!!)
* totti "yacht" (two things I hate!!!)

Goodnight everybody..
Giles' innate sense of web-searching brings you the link for Dictionaraoke. With compliments.
It is not April's Fool, nor Halloween nor anything, still things are getting freakier (and I don't even know if this word exists...) by the day...first the somebodylikesyou(NOT).com mystery, then, today, this: somebody answered to PromoGuy's Monday Mission questions, only, instead of posting them on their own blog or among comments on Promo's website, they sent their answers to me (why me?!?) via email...I also checked Promo's site to see if the guy had posted a link in the comments to the Monday Mission post, but he hasn't...does anybody know who the heck this Judd Clarke guy is??

Bit of a depressed mood today.
Life sucks. Uni sucks. Motoryachts suck as well. Professor Zuccon sucks big time, that fat twat.Do you know that Smart city-car? well, my opinion is they've shaped it using his vast stomach.
what does "ere a you song" mean??? anybody's got a clue?!? Google searching for this page's getting weirder and weirder by the day...there should be a simple code for web-surfing, one simply shouldn't do that when:
a) too drunk;
b) cannot type;
c) has poor understanding of grammar rules...

Feel free to add more rules, if you like...

About the schtoopid email I got this morning from, it's actually more than just ridiculous, it's bloody annoying. First thing, my inwind address isn't the address I use when signing guestbooks/comments/whatever on the web, and I don't buy stuff on the web nor sign up for silly newsletters anyway, so where did they get my address from? To sign guestbooks etc. I use another address, and even add the REMOVETHISBIT after the @ to avoid spam machines to fill my inbox with junk, so, whoever typed my address into that website is a dork!!!

Late, but still it's my Monday Mission 2.27 via PromoGuy:

1. Have you had to repair anything lately? Did you do it yourself or have someone else do it?
I "repaired" my 3D Studio Max. No, seriously, I did. It kept giving script errors and shutting down, but I managed to repair that!! I ROCK!!! ;-P

2. Do you work out or exercise? Or is there anything you do each day for your health?
I should - lately I've been spending far too much time working on the computer, so I've been neglecting my early morning runs, but I plan on taking on doing them again after next week's exam.

3. Are you a modest person? That is, would you be embarrassed for someone (an acquaintance, a friend, a stranger) to see you nude?
Of bloody course I would be bloody embarrassed!!!

4. Some smells that I just can not stand are bags of grass clippings that have sat in the hot sun for a few days, burned hair and vomit (although, thankfully, I have not had to smell them all at the same time). What are some odors that you just can not stand to smell?
Cat's wee, smoke.

5. Are there any social situations that make you uncomfortable?
I'm a pretty shy person, so basically any time there's a "social situation" going on at all, I just feel awkward, out of place, uncomfortable and fighting the urge to run home...

6. Has a friend or an employer ever asked you to do something you felt was unethical or? What was it and what happened?
As a rule, I never do something that's wrong according to my personal ethical view - I guess it sometimes can seem limiting, but since I'm not much of a machiavellian person, I don't go for the "the goal justifies the means" rule. I try hard and never do what I wouldn't like other people do to me, that's it. So if somebody asks me to do something that sounds wrong compared to that rule, I just tell them I won't do that.

7. (continued) Well, we are not yet at our destination, though the way you described it, it sounds simply amazing. What is the first thing we should do once we get there?
Rest. It's pretty hard to climb to a hermitage on top of a hill when having to go through a jungle as well...

BONUS: In this whole world, what is fair?
As Lou Reed would say, "Life's good, but not fair at all" - I don't think there's something that can be tout-court labelled as "fair".
this is frankly RIDICULOUS!

Brazil Rendering System Public Test!!! WOW!!! can't wait to use it on the blurry motoryacht's render!!!

(via swirlee)

Uhm...Brazil Rendering System gives my 3DStudio Max bellyache - therefore I've removed the plugin. Shame, cos I thought it could've helped me rendering the blurry yacht (yes, that's the yacht's full name...blurry yacht!) in a more realistic way...Brazil may be good at footballing, but it yet has to improve its rendering skills...;-P

Link for Giles...
oh, look...the original and the copy...spooky, isn't it?

(via Manic)
I think sooner or later I'll have to change my mobile's number - Sonia gave it to a friend of hers who keeps ringing me, first it was cos we were in the same class, therefore he was wondering if we could've studied together. I then told him that I didn't intend to study together with anybody for that exam (btw, that's the one I sat for on Tuesday), as it'sall maths/engineering stuff, and I need to be on my own to understand what I have to do.

Now, the blurry exam is past history, so I wouldn't have a thing to do with the guy, but he keeps ringing. first couple of times I replied, out of politeness, but the guy's really dumb and boring and annoying, and I can't stand him. at all.

So he rang the other day and I didn't pick up.

He rang yesterday and I didn't pick up.

He rang five minutes ago, and I didn't pick up.

(God bless mobiles for telling you the number who's calling.)

Now, if he only was just a little bit clever, he should've got the message by now, i.e. 'I don't want to talk to you as I don't have anything to tell you, so don't bother me' (ok, I'm somewhat anti-social...), but it seems he's too dumb. also, I went mad at Sonia, cos she gave him my number without asking me, I mean she told me she had *after* he'd already called me the first time. what should I do?!? I'm pondering of changing the number and NOT giving it to Sonia either...

is it just me, or doesn't let me publish?!?

Gert is hurt (not really, I hope!!) by other countries having hot weather. I can understand her, indeed. Cos the reverse of the medal is I'm bloody jealous of London's 16°C. I'd truly love to send her some of the sticky heat that doesn't make me sleep well at night, and that brings us those lovely mosquitoes & other similarly annoying insects. I'm even more jealous when I think I could've spent part of August in UK but I can't so I'll be left here with my already overused - therefore already melting by itself - fried brain (wonder if back in ancient Rome they ever used the Coliseum as a huge pan to fry anything..."crispy fried Christians" as lunch for lions, maybe?)...please do send us some rain, oh you people living where the sun is shy, I'd truly appreciate that!!!

wondering why my blog looks so weird these days...uhm...
Update on holiday front: cousins, bloody cousins, want to go to Barcelona, now.
Now, I'd love to go to Barcelona, too, only not now.
First thing, there are Gaudì celebrations all over the place there this year, which means loads of tourists, so no matter how much I like Gaudì, I simply don't want to get caught in the mess. Gaudì's buildings will be there next year as well, with not so many people crowding the place as this year.
Second, the heat - I'm not moving to a place as hot as Italy for holiday, as I don't like hot weather, no matter where aforementioned hot weather happens to be, I just don't like it. I know this must sound crazy to people living where a hot day means 20°C, and that they would just love being in a warmer place, but not me. Give me no more than 18°C any day, and I'll be happy.
Also, after all the fuss they made about going to UK, then deciding I wasn't welcome, then that I was welcome again, then blah blah blah, know what? I wouldn't go with them *anywhere*, even if they paid all the expenses.

Anyway, Giles, if you read this, you simply *can't* get lost in central London!!! :-P

Monday Mission 2.26, via PromoGuy:

1. In the United States of America, it was recently ruled that the phrase "one nation under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional. Do you agree with this ruling? Should the phrase "under God" be removed? Why?

over here we have that sort of diatribe every time a new schoolyear begins, as in most italian schools there are crucifixes nailed onto walls in classrooms. yes, crucifixes. mind you, it's ok with me, but that's the point, it's ok with *me*, i am a catholic, but it's not catholicism (or christianity) is the state religion or anything. in the constitution is clearly stated there's a separation between country and religion, yet there are crucifixes in almost every classroom. it's different if i wear a crucifix, as i do that for myself, and i'm not public propriety, but schools (as in public schools, not
in the british sense of it, in the 'pick up the dictionary and check' meaning: public = of the people, of every person.) are, public propriety, that is, so nailing a crucifix in calssrooms isn't the ultimate sign of democracy if you ask me. what about muslims, hebrews, buddhists, atheists, anybody else who's not christan? why shouldn't they have a slice of moon, a star, a statue or whatever symbolise their belief in the same classroom, too?...does all this make any sense at all?

2. When was the last time you took a road trip? Where did you go and what did you do?

uhm...can't remember, which means i truly need a holiday!!

3. Do you have any vacations planned for this summer? Already gone? Where to and what?

*sighs*...I wanted to go to UK, to see my friends, but I can't.

4. What is the most drastic change to your appearance that you have ever made? Are you brave enough to post a photo?

No - i'm not brave enough, that is.

5. Tell me about something to which you are committed?

I guess it has to be my university studies. Yes, I'm that dull.

6. Now tell me about something you just flat-out gave up on.

chocolate. cos I love it but it gives me belly ache. :(

7. (new saga) I've had it, this place is just wearing me out. You too? We need a break! Let's head out and go someplace new. You make the plans, I'll get things ready. So what do you have it mind, and did you want me to pick up anything special to pack for the trip?

Let's go to the Caribbeans - just saw a documentary on the telly about an island there where there's a beautiful hermitage built by a friar of St.Francis at the beginning of the last century, all by himself, he's been dragging massive stones through the jungle to build it!!!

BONUS: Where is my hairbrush?

have you tried looking under the sofa?
Just ticked another exam off my 'to do' list...hurrah!! :)

I received this, and, although due to uni overload I stepped off the Blogger Insider Project only a week ago or so, it's something nice to do if one has the time, so, if anybody owning a blog is interested, email Mike!!! :)

You're being contacted because you were a participant in the Blogger Insider. As some of you may know, and most of you probably don't, Keith has decided to pull the plug on the blogger insider program. So, a few of us who would like to keep it going have decided to take it upon ourselves to start it up anew.

So, if you're still interested in participating, please send us an e-mail with your name and current website address. If you could also forward this e-mail to anyone you exchanged questions with in the past, or anyone you think might be interested in joining, or even post this on your site if you're so inclined, it'd be appreciated, thanks. And if anyone's interested in helping out, please let us know that too.

(if anybody's wondering, no I wasn't pissed when I posted that entry yesterday, it's just that silly pseudo-samba song they play/sing at horrible new years' eve parties over here, dunno if it's the same elsewhere...anyways, that's as much Brazilian as I can go...)
